About this random number generator
This tool picks numbers uniformly at random from the range you set, meaning every value in the range has the same chance of being chosen. It can draw a single number, a whole list, or a set of unique numbers for raffles and sampling. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
How the numbers are generated
For whole numbers the generator computes min + floor(r × (max − min + 1)), where r is a random value between 0 and 1 supplied by the browser. That gives each integer from min to max exactly the same probability. When duplicates are not allowed it performs a partial Fisher–Yates shuffle of the range, which is the standard way to draw without replacement without bias. Decimal results are drawn uniformly across the range and rounded to the precision you select.
Example: with a range of 1 to 100 and one number, every value from 1 to 100 has a 1% chance. Asking for 6 unique numbers between 1 and 49 simulates a classic lottery draw.
How to use this generator
- Enter the minimum and maximum. Negative numbers and large ranges are fine.
- Choose how many numbers you want (up to 10,000) and whether repeats are allowed.
- Press Generate. Press it again for a new draw, or use Copy numbers to put the list on your clipboard.
Common uses
- Games: set 1 to 6 for a die, 1 to 2 for a coin flip (1 = heads), or 1 to 52 for a card.
- Giveaways and raffles: number the entries and draw unique winners.
- Random sampling: pick rows from a list or participants for a survey without bias.
- Statistics practice: generate a data set, then analyse it with the average calculator or the standard deviation calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Are these numbers truly random?
They come from your browser's built-in pseudo-random number generator, which is fine for games, raffles, sampling and everyday decisions. It is not suitable for cryptography or anything where an attacker could profit from predicting the sequence.
Are the minimum and maximum included?
Yes. Both ends of the range can appear. With a range of 1 to 6 and whole numbers, the generator behaves exactly like a fair six-sided die.
How do I draw lottery or raffle numbers without repeats?
Untick "allow duplicates" and set the count to how many numbers you need. The generator then draws without replacement, like pulling balls from a bag, so every number in the list is different.
Can I generate the same numbers again later?
No, there is no seed option; each click produces a fresh, unrepeatable draw. Copy the list with the button if you need to keep a record.
